Our Mission & Vision/Philosophy
It is our belief, supported by research, that much of what generally is considered the inevitable decline in physical, mental, and social-emotional abilities correlated with aging, is in fact preventable or reversible.
We are committed to helping our clients find their best way to maintain and improve their functional abilities across life domains and the lifespan. In doing so we hope to change the negative perspectives widely held about aging and older people in all domains of life.
Meet Dr. Raymond Ferrier
For over 30 years, Dr. Raymond Ferrier has concerned himself with the question of which behavioral patterns contribute to remaining maximally functional across environments, circumstances, and time. He delved into that inquiry in his dual capacity as a sociologist and physiotherapist.
While treating patients ranging from ages 12-102, he observed many habits and behavioral patterns that proved predictive regarding people’s ability to remain maximally functional at later ages. It was this functionality -the ability to perform mental and physical actions as one desires, that most people value above all at every stage of life.
By successfully incorporating the insights learned from his real-life patients - coupled with the latest research findings- in his treatment approach, Dr. Ferrier was able to significantly increase his success rate in improving his patients’ ability to return to or pursue the life they desired.
He has found a pro-active, positive mindset to maintaining physical and mental adaptability to be the most powerful predictor of successful functional longevity.
Dr. Ferrier was educated in the Netherlands where he earned a master’s degree in sociology and a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy, and in the United States where he earned his doctorate in physiotherapy.
He practiced in multiple countries on multiple continents, deepening his understanding of how our cultural context influences our health, health behaviors and beliefs about health and aging. His clinical practice has taken place in a variety of settings including hospitals, private clinics, workplaces, nursing homes, and homecare.
Dr. Ferrier has developed a deep appreciation for the role that interpersonal communication -including in conflict situations- plays in the maintenance and promotion of good health.
He is a trained health and wellness coach and continues to serve his clients globally with coaching. In the jurisdictions where he is licensed to practice physiotherapy he does so virtually (online) and in-person (currently in Florida, US and in the Netherlands, EU).
Dr. Ferrier offers lectures and workshops on functional longevity, and "the art and science of building an adaptive body and mind, to support the life that you desire at any age".
